This is a Chinese export scholar figurine. He is one of the characters from the Chinese fable, Eight Immortals Over the Sea. The porcelain figure was hand painted. He has a damaged sea swirl at the bottom. The lower price reflects the damage.
His hands are removable.
I can only assume that the female is a character from the Chinese fable as well. She is in superb condition, except for dirt/stain on one hand.
